Rover Brand Studio

Role: Concepting, Visual Design, Motion Graphics

As a senior visual designer in the Brand Studio at Rover my responsibilities included designing marketing materials for a two-sided marketplace through a variety of channels including social media, display ads, responsive landing pages, HTML emails and store merchandise while always ensuring that all work adhered to Rover’s brand guidelines. In addition to these responsibilities, I often presented creative to key stakeholders. A colleague in the Brand Studio described my work as “fast, smart, and polished.” See below for a small sample of pieces that I concepted and designed. If you would like to see additional Rover work samples, this PDF is available for download.

Rover Store Email Templates

The Rover Store launched in November 2019 and they came to me looking for a few modern email templates that could be used for a variety of store initiatives. While we wanted to stick very close to the traditional Rover brand, I was asked to push that a bit. The outcome was a handful of templates that still felt “Rover” but with a clean and more sophisticated twist, which aligned well with the Store’s photography look and feel. The stakeholders were thrilled with the end result and the templates started successfully rolling into market.

Rover Store Merch

The Rover Store launched late in 2019, with wine merchandise the top seller. The Store team wanted to launch additional wine merch and asked me to explore some new design treatments. I had a ton of fun with this project and when “Wine More Bark Less” went live, I was told the store hit a record for sales that day with the new design!

Valentine’s Day “Thank You” Email

We wanted to give some love to the Rover community and let them know how much we appreciate them. I designed and animated an email that I thought would make them smile and even laugh a little.

Product Review Template

Rover’s blog, The Dog People, generates a good amount of affiliate revenue each month through its product reviews. However there wasn’t a consistent structure for the product reviews, and with so many different experts generating their own reviews, the layout was messy and inconsistent. The team came to me looking for a clean and modular template that could be used by the product review team on the existing platform.

I established an official hero image at the top of every product review to differentiate them from regular blog posts, and to also make them recognizable as official Rover reviews. I cleaned up the sidebar content and added a sticky table of contents in desktop and mobile so the user always knows what section they are in, as well as allow them to deep link to different sections with the click or tap of a link. Consistent image ratios can make all the difference, so I selected a standard image ratio that I knew would work well for static imagery and video in both desktop and mobile. I designed an official Rover “Top Pick” icon to identify the top product selected within each review, and finally, I established consistent subsections within each product review to tighten up the content. The stakeholders were really excited about the outcome and the template was quickly moved to development and launched shortly thereafter.

*Please note: The copy in the product review below is not real. It was used for design purposes only.

New Puppy Landing Page

Getting a new puppy is exciting and fun, but it also comes with changes to a routine. This is where Rover can come in and help! I was asked to design a responsive landing page promoting Rover’s services and how sitters can help someone with a new puppy.
